Meet Sandy Goldhaber, MSW, LSCW Denver Therapist

Wellshire Behavioral Services has recently added Sandy Goldhaber, MSW, LSCW to our diverse team. She is a clinical social worker who has been practicing in the Denver metro area for thirty years, in settings including schools, medical offices, and in private practice. She especially loves working with school age children, adolescents, and adults experiencing life transitions. Her treatment philosophy is solution focused. She believes that finding ways to alleviate the distress that people come in to solve can be approached in many ways. Problems can be biological, psychological, social, situational, or rooted in basic value conflicts. Her job, together with the client, is to figure out the puzzle of the causes of distress and to find viable solutions based upon realistic possibilities, client strengths, and expectations. She and the client will figure this out together, including family and outside community resources where appropriate and mutually agreed upon.

Sandy is currently accepting new patients. If you are interested in learning more about her, please visit our website at http://www.wbscolorado.org/ or if you would like to make a first appointment, call our front desk staff at (303)-504-6565.

Wellshire Pharmacy

Wellshire Behavioral Services offers a full-service pharmacy which is attached to our waiting room. This feature allows our patients to save valuable time when picking up their prescribed medications.

The Wellshire Pharmacy specializes in mental health prescriptions. Although the pharmacy is full-service and carries most prescribed drugs, inventory is specialized to keep unique mental health medications in stock that most other pharmacies would have to special order.

The pharmacy staff prides itself on customer service and strives to work with Wellshire patients to ensure best outcomes from medication.

Holiday Depression

For many of us the holidays are a joyous time filled with social gatherings and celebrations with family and friends. For others, the holidays can be a time represented by loneliness, stress over money, self-reflection, and anxiety surrounding the future. It is estimated that over one million people feel the affects of holiday depression each year.

Although causes for holiday depression are often linked directly to the holidays, many individuals may also be experiencing complex psychosocial issues that can extend beyond the holiday season. This post-holiday let down that occurs after January 1st is often the result of disappointments compounded with increases in stress and fatigue.

As stressful as the holidays can be, there are ways to get through them. During this stressful time, it is important for people to focus on taking care of themselves as well as to set manageable expectations:

  • Make time for adequate rest to have greater energy.
  • Exercise to relieve tension and increase self-esteem.
  • Keep alcohol consumption moderate during seasonal celebrations to minimize alcohol’s depressive effects.
  • Surround themselves with supportive people.
If the stresses of the holidays become overwhelming, it can be helpful to seek help from a trained mental health care professional. The practices at Wellshire are accepting new patients. For more information, visit our website at http://www.wbscolorado.org/

The entire staff at Wellshire wishes you a strong and enjoyable holiday season.
